What to Expect of Your Child's Evaluation
Intake Interview
First, an intake interview is conducted with the parents only either in person or through Dr. Felix’s HIPAA compliant telemedicine platform. This is so Dr. Felix can obtain a thorough history of your child’s development and an understanding of current concerns.
As part of the intake interview, Dr. Felix will have parents complete intake paperwork, as well as questionnaires that can be returned on the day of testing.
Dr. Felix may also obtain questionnaires and/or information from your child’s teacher or medical professionals involved in your child’s life.
Testing
On the day of testing (usually within one week of the intake interview), Dr. Felix will be working with your child individually for the majority of the day. This allows Dr. Felix to understand how your child functions over the course of the day and not just when they are at their best. Parents will be asked to remain on-site, in the nearby waiting room.
For younger children, testing will likely be completed prior to lunch (around noon). For older children and adolescents, a one hour lunch break will be taken and testing will conclude prior to 3pm.
*Please note that fees are due in full on the day of testing.
Review of Results (Feedback)
A feedback meeting is held (usually one or two weeks after testing) in-person or via telemedicine to review results of the evaluation, impressions/diagnoses (if any), and recommendations. Older children (age 12+) and adolescents are encouraged to be a part of this meeting, though a separate meeting can be arranged after initial feedback is provided to parents. Younger children are welcome to be a part of this meeting, as well, or again, a separate meeting can be arranged.
Written Report
Within one to two weeks after the feedback meeting, a comprehensive report detailing the child’s history, results of testing, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations is mailed to the family’s home. With a signed Release of Information, reports can be shared with school faculty and staff, as well as other providers involved in your child’s care.
