Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluations

A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation elucidates your child’s neurocognitive strengths and areas of growth. Typical areas assessed include: intellectual functioning (i.e., IQ), language, visual-spatial skills, fine motor skills, learning and memory, attention, and executive functions. Information about your child’s emotional, behavioral, and social functioning may also be gathered via interview and parent, teacher, and self-report questionnaires.  Typical referral questions involve concerns about how a child’s medical condition is impacting their functioning or concerns related to a child’s development or learning.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Evaluations

An evaluation for an Autism Spectrum Disorder includes specific testing of a child’s social, emotional, and behavioral functioning, as well as testing to rule out other contributing factors or diagnoses, such as ADHD. Thus, a child who comes in for evaluation for an ASD receives a comprehensive service.

Learning Disorder Evaluations

If your child is struggling in school or you are concerned they are falling behind peers, an evaluation of their academic skills may be appropriate.  This can include evaluation for Learning Disorders impacting Reading (Dyslexia), Written Expression, or Mathematics. Importantly, an evaluation would also rule out other concerns that may be contributing to your child’s difficulties, such as ADHD.  Thus, your child would undergo a comprehensive evaluation to determine their unique profile and to guide educational planning.

What Makes an evaluation with Growing Minds Pediatric Neuropsychology, LLC different?

Dr. Felix has extensive training and experience in child development, brain-behavior relationships, and the administration, scoring, and interpretation of specialized, standardized neuropsychological tests (i.e., ADOS-2).

She is board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology and subspecialty board certified in Pediatric Clinical Neuropsychology through ABPP.

Dr. Felix conducts all of her own testing, rather than using a technician or student/trainee. That means that your child works with a specialist the whole time they are in the office.

Dr. Felix recognizes that collaboration with other professionals, including medical teams, school faculty and staff, and therapists is essential. She can help families understand their child’s development, strengths, and areas for growth in order to effectively advocate for their child’s needs. She also collaborates with physicians to guide treatment planning and school staff to guide educational programming.
